Obituary

Mary (Pavlus) Marcinco of Fairview Park, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 28, at Starky Place in Painesville, Ohio. She died at the "awesome" age of 99!

Her parents were John Pavlus and Anna (Popjak) Pavlus of Hooversville, Pennsylvania. Her father died in an accident before she came into the world on March 19, 1915. She joined two brothers, George and John, and sister Ann.

As time went on, Mary's mother married Steve Gmetro. He took on the role of a devoted husband and father, loving and caring for the young family.

They moved to Lakewood, Ohio and added four more children to the family. Steve, Emil, Helen (Hankovsky) and Margaret (Vicko).

At the age of seventeen, Mary went to Brooklyn, New York and became a governess to two different families while she was living there.

On returning to Cleveland, she met John Marcinco at a church function at St. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Ohio.

They were married on November 30, 1940. Their daughters, Ellen Marie (Marcinco) Laux of Ashton, Idaho and Marilyn Ann (Marcinco) Kent of Painesville, Ohio came along.

Mary was a very devoted wife and mother. Her husband, John, passed away on May 30, 1996.

Mary worked at the Clown Town Photography Studio in Lakewood, Ohio as a touch up artist in photo processing.

She was an excellent seamstress and unique in her sewing abilities never using a pattern.

She was a woman of great faith, love and courage. Serving her Savior through reaching out to family, church members and others with the love, talents and gifts that she was given.

She decided to move to Ashton, Idaho at the age of 88 to be near her oldest daughter, Ellen, son-in-law Rich and family. She was able to spend time with grandson Richard, and Charlotte (Waukesha, Wisconsin) with great grandchildren, Ben, Caleb, Abby, and David. Granddaughter, Ann, and Sean Donahue, (Spokane, Washington) with great grandchildren, Aaron, Josh, Nathan and Emma. Grandson Jon and Letta, (Kimberly, Idaho) with great grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan Paul, Sam and Max. Rich and Ellen's youngest son, Tim, died on May 24, 2010. Her presence with Ellen and her family was such a blessing, leaving a lasting legacy.

Mary made a decision to move back to Cleveland in October of 2013 at the age of 98 to be closer to her daughter Marilyn, and son in law, Geoff, and to return closer to her home. There she was able to spend time with her grandson Mark Kent, and his new bride, Jaime (Charlotte, North Carolina). Many family members came to visit her.

She is survived by her youngest sister, Margaret Vicko (North Ridgeville, Ohio) and sister in law Kay (Emil) Gmetro of Fairview Park, Ohio. She has many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 14560 Madison Ave., Lakewood, Ohio on Tuesday, August 5, at 11:00 AM. She will be buried by her loving husband, John, at Elmhurst Cemetery in Avon Lake, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Western Reserve Hospice, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, 441102602 or Lakewood Lutheran School, 14560 Madison Ave., Lakewood, Ohio, 44107.

In closing, Proverbs 31:30,31 "Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn't last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised. Praise her for the many fine things she does. These good deeds of hers shall bring her honor and recognition." We know that our Lord has welcomed her into His heavenly home and one day we will see her and our loved ones that have gone on ahead who have put their trust in Christ alone!
