Nelda
Ricks
Aug 11, 1938 — Nov 28, 2025
Nelda Rae Ard Ricks returned to her Heavenly Father on November 28, 2025, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 87. She was born on August 11, 1938, in Rexburg, Idaho, and spent most of her life in the beloved Teton Valley, where she was raised, built her family, and lived a life centered on faith, love, and service.
On December 28, 1956, Nelda married the love of her life, Larry Ricks. Their marriage was later solemnized, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Utah Temple. Their union was the foundation of a loving family and a testament to the eternal promises they cherished.
In her later years, Nelda moved to Washington, Utah, where she embraced the beauty of the red rock landscape, the warm climate, and the peaceful nature of the area. She especially loved attending the temple whenever her health allowed, finding peace and strength in its sacred walls. Nelda was a devoted daughter of God whose gentle spirit and steady faith blessed all who knew her. She lived the gospel of Jesus Christ through simple, consistent acts of service, kindness, and love for her family. Her home was a place of warmth, acceptance, and peace.
Throughout her life, Nelda faithfully served in many callings in Primary and Relief Society. She loved the children she taught and the sisters she ministered to, offering her time and talents with humility and devotion. Her example of quiet discipleship strengthened her ward family and touched countless lives.
Nelda is survived by her children: Vicky (Don) Wade, Kirk (Janet) Ricks, Georgia (Scott) Davison, and Michael Ricks; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members who cherish her memory and feel her influence in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Ricks, and her daughter, Pamela (Tim) Sheer. We rejoice in the knowledge of eternal families and take comfort in knowing she has been lovingly reunited with them on the other side of the veil.
Her life was a testament to the Savior's teachings, and her legacy of faith, compassion, and gentleness will continue to bless her posterity for generations to come.
Funeral services will be held on December 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Driggs, Idaho Stake Center. A family-only viewing will take place that morning at 10:30 a.m.
