Nieca Cordingley Jessen, 89, of Ashton, died February 12, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. She was born January 9, 1924 in Marysville, Idaho to George and Arminta Egbert Cordingley. She was raised in Marysville and attended school in Marysville and Ashton.

She married John "Jack" Jessen on August 13, 1943 in Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in the Ashton area where they farmed and raised their children.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including as Relief Society President. Her favorite calling was teaching the youth in Sunday School.

She worked for several area businesses as well as helping on the farm. In the 1980's she and Jack started an R.V. Park and Bed and Breakfast at their home place. She continued running this business until her death. She was active in the Ashton Chamber of Commerce and served a term as president.

She was a very outgoing lady and loved to meet new people. She had two favorite sayings, "I'm going to live till I die" and "I am going to burn out, not rust out". She loved spending time with her family and supporting them in their activities.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Miller of Ashton, Kay (Bill) Lovell of Ririe, Lowell Carlson of Pocatello, Bruce (Sharon) Jessen of Spokane, Washington; a sister, Georgia Oberhansley of Ashton; a brother, Hollis (Donna) Cordingley; 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, and sisters Margaret, Zelda and Madge.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, at the Ashton 1st Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Brian Loosli officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home in Ashton, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
