Obituary

Nolan Vander Linden, our loving Daddy, Papa, Great-Papa, Brother, Uncle, & friend passed away on November 23, 2021, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, ID. He was born October 22, 1942, in Saint Anthony, ID to Donald Vander Linden and Ruth (Broadhurst) Vander Linden. Nolan grew up in Saint Anthony where he attended school and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1961. In 1963, he met and married Karen Carlson and together they had 5 children, Rook, Romney, Deverie, Delona, and Nolan. They later divorced.

At age 22, he joined the Saint Anthony volunteer fire department where he served 27 years and served as the President of Idaho State Fire School Association. He was on the Saint Anthony Fisherman's Breakfast Committee where he was awarded Honorary Chef multiple times. He was a founding member of The Fremont County Search and Rescue where he served for over 20 years holding titles such as Commander, Vice Commander, Secretary, Quarter Master, and Board of Director. He received his EMT certification and served as a volunteer on the ambulance for over 15 years. He also served as Deputy Coroner for Fremont County for about 15 years. He also served on the planning and zoning committee and was a member of The Jaycee's.

Nolan was a master electrician. He ran a family business, Don's H&L Electric with his father and brothers. In the 80's, he began working at the Idaho Stud Mill where he worked as the head electrician until it closed in the 90's. Shortly after, he moved to the Boise area where he married Evelyn Sartin and gained a daughter, Desiree, that he raised as one of his own. They later divorced. While in the Treasure Valley, he embraced his love for horses and joined the Back Country Horseman's Club.

In 2006, he returned home to Saint Anthony and that remained his home for the rest of his adventurous life. Nolan was an avid outdoorsman. He loved everything about the outdoors. He loved hunting and camping, and he always looked forward to elk camp every fall.

Nolan is survived by his canine best friend and life companion, Sunny Beach. His children: Deverie (Danny) Gould of Saint Anthony, ID. Delona (Keith) Schultz of Ashton, ID. Nolan (Audra) Vander Linden of Saint Anthony, ID. and Desiree (Toby) Parkinson of Newdale, ID. His grandchildren: Jodie, Mitch, Judd, Drew, Cheyanne, Rook, Chelsee, Jolise, Kenzli, and Emberlee. Nine great-grand babies, with one on the way. Siblings: Cathy (Sam) Bang of West Jordan, UT. Alita (Arden) Stoddard of Egin, ID. Scott (Kara) Vander Linden of Jerome, ID. and Ken Vander Linden of Saint Anthony, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Ruth Vander Linden. Brother, Donald Vander Linden. First wife, Karen Carlson, and their children, Rook and Romney Vander Linden. Parents in law, Reed and Reva Carlson. Brothers in law, Lonnie Carlson and Dell Carlson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, at the St. Anthony 3rd Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends that morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.

We will have a celebration of life at The Star Bar in Saint Anthony after memorial services, the evening of December 18. All friends and family are welcome to join.
