Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Paola Prose Worrell, Jr. was peacefully called to his heavenly home on December 14, 2024. Known lovingly as "Oley," he touched countless lives with his kindness, dedication and unwavering faith.

Born on October 26, 1934, in Rexburg, Idaho to Joseph and Elva Worrell, Oley grew up on the family ranch in Chester, Idaho. It was there that he learned the value of hard work, love for the land, and the strength of family bonds. After serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission area, Oley pursued higher education at Ricks College and Utah State University, earning a degree in Agronomy.

While at Ricks College, Oley met the love of his life, Vena Rae Hall.  They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  on February 7, 1958, beginning a 66-year journey together that brought them four children: Shannon, Shelbie, Shawnie and Joseph (Joe).

Oley worked the family farm with his brother before embarking on a career in security at the Idaho Falls Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later as a janitorial supervisor at Ricks College, where he remained until retirement.  He faithfully served in various church callings, always striving to bless the lives of others.

A man of many talents and passions, Oley found joy in farming, raising Black Angus cattle, Holstein Dairy cows, fishing, woodworking, camping, genealogy, and road trips with his family. His greatest love, however, was helping others discover their family history and serving in the temple. Recently he expressed how he missed doing genealogy and temple work.

Oley is survived by his devoted wife, Vena Rae Hall Worrell, of Chester, Idaho; his children: Shannon Hess (Bruce) of Rigby, Idaho, Shelbie Burke (Doug) of Rigby, Idaho, Shawnie Worrell (Leimomi) of Tacoma, Washington, Joe Worrell (Brenda) of Pocatello, Idaho; his brother Joseph Kennie of Chester, Idaho, sister Carma Fae of Utah, 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elva Worrell, his brother Norman Leroy Worrell, 2 grandsons Michael Bruce Hess and Kolby James Worrell, 1 great-grandson Samuel Porter Hess.

Oley will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile and willingness to lend a helping hand. His family and friends will carry forward his legacy of love, faith and service.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Ashton, Idaho Stake, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 516  North 2nd Street, Ashton, Idaho.  With a viewing before the services from 10:30 -11:45 am.

Oley's love and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.  He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered until we are united once again.
