Paul Robert Wynn, 63, of Firth and formerly of Ashton, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. He was born June 11, 1949, in Preston, Idaho to Ross and Thayle Beckstead Wynn. He was raised in Ashton and attended school there. He graduated from North Fremont High School in 1967.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full time mission for the church and was an Eagle Scout. He served in many other callings in the church.
He married Debra Lee Hunsaker on August 20, 1971 in Kennewick, Washington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home and raised their family in Ashton before moving to Firth in 2006.
He was very involved in community service. He served for six years on the Ashton City Council and then served for twelve years as Mayor. He owned and ran the Four Seasons Motel in Ashton for 30 years.
He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Debra of Firth; children, Nicole (Travis) Bell of Mackay, Monique (Ronnie) Palmer of Ashton, Bridgett (Trever) Gerdes of Sugar City, Ryan (Rebecca) Wynn, Darci (Justin) Heiner, Kirstyn Tews all of Ashton, Adam (Katie) Wynn of Rexburg, Elder Logan Wynn serving in the Arizona Tucson Mission; parents Ross and Thayle Wynn of Idaho Falls; siblings, Scott (Marie) Wynn of Schaumburg, Illinois, Loila Wynn of Salt Lake City, Kathy (Spencer) Felix of Ogden, Utah, Venis (Justin) McCarthy of Pueblo, Colorado, Alan (Sue) Wynn and Todd (Hideko) Wynn all of Salem, Oregon, Brian Wynn of Pocatello, Sam (Stacy) Wynn of Ashton; and 31 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at the Ashton Stake Center, 516 North 2nd Street. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
