Obituary

Rex Verle Jardine, 52, of Tetonia, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the University of Utah Medical Center from a heart condition. He was born May 8, 1960 in Driggs, Idaho to Verle and Nancy Beard Jardine. He attended grade school in Tetonia and high school in Driggs. He was involved with wrestling and football while in school. He graduated from Teton High School in 1978.

He married Jan Harris on August 5, 1988 in Tetonia. They made their home and raised their family there.

He was a farmer and worked with his father and his sons. They raised grain, potatoes and other crops. They also ran a cattle operation. Rex also ran a custom grain business. He was a licensed gun dealer and ran a small gun shop.

He served as Mayor of the city of Tetonia, while serving as mayor he was instrumental in the planning of Tetonia's Centennial Celebration. He also served on the Planning and Zoning Committee.

He was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was always willing to serve and help others, often stopping his own work when others needed a hand.

He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, hunting and building snow planes. He loved to cook and was always in charge of cooking the meals at family reunions. He was very involved in helping with high school sporting events, especially when his kids were participants. He loved spending time with his family and they were the most important part of his life. He always said, "Don't worry about what you can't control. It is what it is".

He is survived by his wife Jan of Tetonia; sons, Brady (Kristine) Young and Mike (Sarah) Young of Idaho Falls, Russell Jardine and Rocky Jardine of Tetonia; parents, Verle and Nancy Jardine of Tetonia; a sister, Tamie (Tom) Spalding of Orem, Utah; and grandchildren, Sydney, Brendon, Allyssa, and Sawyer Young. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, at the Tetonia LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the church. Interment will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
