Ronald "Ron" Atchley, 64, of Ashton, died February 14, 2018, in St. George, Utah from heart complications. He was born April 23, 1953, in Ashton, Idaho to Wilbur and Carol Steck Atchley. He was raised in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1971.
Shortly after graduating from high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served for eight years until being honorably discharged in 1979.
He married VerDena Haring and two daughters, Lisa Marie and Tina Marie, were born to this union. He and VerDena later divorced.
He married Barbara Folker in October of 1989. They enjoyed several years together before she passed away in February 2001.
Ron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ron worked for many years for the Idaho Department of Transportation as a Section Foreman. He enjoyed his work and was disappointed when health conditions caused him to take an early retirement.
Ron enjoyed fishing, camping, four-wheeling and loved steelhead fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Marie (Brett) Griffel and Tina Marie Atchley, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Cynthia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bill and Keith.
The family will meet with friends and family on Tuesday, February 20, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, February 21, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at Baxter Funeral Home. At 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a brief service will be held at the funeral home before going to the Pineview Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 89.
