Sean
Stohl
Jul 13, 1976 — Jan 28, 2022
Sean David Stohl, 45, passed away on January 28, 2022 in Murray, Utah. He lived his faith, loved his family, and will be deeply missed by the many whose lives he touched.
Sean was born on July 13, 1976 to Brent and Diane Stohl. He grew up working on the family ranch in Lamont, Idaho, roaming the fields, riding four-wheelers, and fishing. Sean graduated from North Fremont High School in 1994 and then went on to attend Ricks College. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Independence, Missouri, he returned to Ricks College where he met his sweetheart, Megan Stowell. They were married on June 18, 1999 in the Los Angeles Temple. Sean and Megan transferred to BYU, Provo, and upon their graduation and the completion of his graduate degree, the family moved to Portland, Oregon. They eventually settled in South Jordan, Utah, where Sean was Senior VP, DOS Professional Services at Health Catalyst.
Sean was first and foremost a family man. He took great pride in the talents and accomplishments of his 5 children. He loved coaching them, cheering them on, and spending long weekends with them at their home in St George. They enjoyed family vacations, with Hawaii, Disneyland, Greece and Ireland being some of their favorite destinations. Sean could never say no to family pickleball games or even car karaoke with the kids. The Stohl family ranch in Idaho was a regular destination where they enjoyed round ups, tractors, fishing, four-wheelers, car shows, his mom's homemade jam, and beautiful drives through Yellowstone.
Sean loved to be outdoors, running, golfing, and hiking, and was passionately devoted to all things BYU. He traveled near and far to attend BYU football and basketball games.
Sean found great joy in helping and serving others. He loved his associations within the community and with his ward members. He shared his testimony willingly while helping the youth prepare for missions and life. As a young men's leader and later as Bishop, he especially enjoyed taking the youth camping, hiking, and hosting all-you-can-eat taco nights. His kindness, his care, and his Christ-like love have truly blessed many lives.
Sean is survived by his loving wife, Megan, of South Jordan, Utah; daughters Libby, Ella, and Lucy, and sons Owen and Levi; parents Brent and Diane Stohl of Ashton, Idaho; sister Leslie (Robert) Egbert and brother Nathan (Krista) Stohl, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Sean is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Sean." He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents Floyd and Hope Stohl and Laurence and Vera Orme, as well as beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at the South Jordan River Stake Center, 1570 W. 11400 S., South Jordan, Utah, with President Marty Stephens officiating.
