Stephen William Rees, age 70, passed away peacefully at The Homestead Assisted Living Center on April 21, 2023.

He was born May 31, 1952, to Roger Walter Rees and Dortha Grisham Rees in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

He was active in music and track in high school and graduated as Valedictorian of his class.  After high school, Steve attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for one year. After his time in the service, he attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, with occasional gaps to work and ski in the Colorado Rockies, breaking a bone or two in the process.

Steve opened his dental office on Main Street in Ashton in the early 1980s and practiced there for over 30 years.

He enjoyed virtually every outdoor activity available in the Yellowstone area, especially kayaking, hiking, skiing, and horseback riding.
Steve shared his dental skills overseas by participating in volunteer programs in Africa and on the Island of St. John in the Caribbean.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.  He is survived by his sister Elaine and brother Richard and by his very beloved Arabian, Tela.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 8, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Ashton at 6:00 p.m.
