Tammy
Hatt
Apr 8, 1958 — Nov 25, 2022
Our loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend Tammy May Moon Hatt, passed away on November 25, 2022, after battling cancer.
Tammy was born on April 8, 1958 to Glenn and Barbara Moon in Ashton, Idaho.
She was their first child and was a great help to her parents and her 8 younger siblings. She graduated from North Fremont High in 1976. After this she met her sweetheart Dean Hatt. She walked into his backyard in Albion with Dean's best friend, and she heard a voice telling her to pay attention because he was the man she was going to marry. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on Feb 25, 1977. They lived in Burley, ID while Dean attended Ricks College and then had their 5 children David Lane, Amber Ruth, James Flagan, Vendla Lorene and Barbara Kay.
They decided to move to Orem so Dean could attend Utah Tech and began to establish their family. Finances were tight but Tammy and Dean worked tirelessly to keep them comfortable and happy. She was the driver of the family and would wake up Dean and drive him to work early in the morning. Then she would come home and get all the kids ready for school before working herself. She cooked thousands of meals in her tiny kitchen and could do wonders with a box of potatoes. She was a fierce protector of her kids and would go to bat for them anytime they needed.
Tammy loved serving in the Relief Society as Secretary, Counselor and President. She enjoyed getting to know the ladies and sewing blankets for all the new babies. Tammy was very creative and a talented seamstress. She continually served people with all the things she made. Her grandkids were never lacking pajamas or blankets. We always knew we could ask her for anything we needed sewn if we just set it on the sewing machine for her. She loved to watch old shows while she sewed and her family will miss hearing her laughing so hard at shows from downstairs. Even being so sick this last while, she was still cross-stitching and crocheting to give us all gifts as she couldn't sit in her sewing chair for long.
She enjoyed camping with Dean and going on trips as she got older. She especially loved Disneyland and has an epic collection of Disney collectibles that we all treasure. She loved her family more than anything and loved when we all got together. She was so proud of her 5 perfect kids and has left them with lots of mom sayings to remember. We will miss her telling us that she is just a simple farm girl. Tammy and Dean had a wonderfully unique marriage and we will miss hearing about their outings to bookshops and fabric stores.
She had a strong testimony and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She felt blessed to figure out stuff on the computer for her callings in her later years. We are grateful to know that she was greeted by her Savior and her loved ones and what a joyous reunion it probably was!
She is preceded in death by her father Glenn, sister Glenda and brother Kevin. She is survived by her mother Barbara Moon, husband Dean, son David Hatt (Kristy), daughter Amber Johnson (Seth), son James Hatt (Chelsey), daughter Vendla Hatt, daughter Barbara Christensen (Erik), grandchildren Emily, Crystal, Anna, Bryan, and James Hatt, Kahlan and Preston Johnson, Bear Hatt, Rachel, Justin, Abby, and Alex Christensen and her 6 brothers and sisters Vendla (James) Parish, Jim (Anna)Moon, Sarah Moon, Reese (Lark) Moon, Amy (Frank) Sykes, Dennis (Alisa) Moon and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 N. 2nd Street, with Bishop James Nash of the Ashton 1st Ward officiating. The family will receive friends that morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery, 3609 East 1300 North, Ashton, ID 83420.
