Obituary

Wayne Vance Derricott, 75, of Macks Inn, died July 22, 2015, at his home of natural causes. He was born December 29, 1939, in Liberty, Idaho to Wayne and Grace Hayes Derricott. He attended school in Liberty, Paris and Sugar City, Idaho. He graduated from Sugar Salem High School.

He married Marie Fisher on June 26, 1959, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They just celebrated their 56 wedding anniversary. After their marriage they lived in the Rexburg area for a few years and then moved to St. George, Utah where Vance managed a propane district for 4 years. In 1972, they bought a hardware and lumber store, Island Park Builders, and moved to Island Park where they resided until his passing.

Vance was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest. He served as a Sunday School teacher, bishop's executive secretary, counselor in the bishopric, as a counselor and as president of the Stake Sunday School.

He liked to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He enjoyed memorizing and reciting cowboy poetry. He liked to sing and sang at funerals and other gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Macks Inn; children Aleana (Glade) Gunnell, DeWayne Derricott and Talene Derricott all of Macks Inn; sisters Shirley (Ed) West of Idaho Falls and Carol (Duane) Hatch of Layton, Utah; a grandson; three granddaughters; five great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Delmar Derricott and a grandson Kendrick Gunnell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, at the Island Park LDS Chapel, with Bishop George Brunt officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the church. Interment will be in the Island Park Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
