Verle Caldwell Jardine, born July 19, 1932, in Richvale, Idaho, the third child of Donald W. Jardine and Belle Caldwell Jardine, graduated to a better place on September 6, 2017. There to welcome him is his son Rex Verle Jardine, his brother Lynn, his sister Carole Foster, his parents and many others who loved him.
Verle is survived by his wife, Nancy Beard Jardine, daughter Tamie Jardine Spalding, daughter-in-law Jan Harris Jardine; grandchildren, Ben Rex Spalding, Matthew Spalding, Daniel "Cowboy" Spalding, Rebecca Spalding, Brady Young, Mikeal Young, Russell Rex Jardine and Rocky Verle Jardine; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Reed Fayne Jardine, Garry Jardine and Lynda Reiley. Verle was under the care of his family and One Source Hospice. (Thanks to Sue Beard for the very loving care you gave Verle)
Verle served in the Korean War and was honorable discharged in 1955.
Verle married Nancy Mariettia Beard on September 2, 1955, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He also married Nancy's herd of cows and several horses, which they used to start their ranching-farming life together. Verle used Nancy's Arabian stallion to feed the cows, pulling a slip loaded with hay, attached with a lariat to the saddle horn. Later he built the first of many feed sleighs to feed the bigger herd of cows and horses with the several big teams he and Rex had. They loved to take the teams to pulling meets to compete.
Verle was a very good welder. He designed and built many 2-wheel horse carts. He also built big feed sleighs for the Wyoming Game and Fish. He trained horses to drive for people from all over - Salmon to Blackfoot and into Wyoming.
Verle enjoyed sports. While in high school he lettered in boxing and football. He also played baseball with his ward. Verle and Nancy enjoyed taking their grandsons all over to their baseball and football games.
After Verle's son Rex died, he dedicated his life to helping his grandsons, Russell and Rocky, run the farm. One night the baler broke down with Russell. Verle, Russell and Rocky worked all night fixing it. Verle was convinced he could fix or make anything with a welder. He spent many days in his shop making things.
Verle was a High Priest in the Clawson Ward, serving with Bishop Rex Rigby, Lincoln Hatch and Lee Kaufman.
Verle was a director on the Federal Land Bank, and also past president of Leigh Creek Canal for many years.
Verle's last few months were spent mostly in the house where he would say, "I just need to go to the shop". He did get to be wheeled outside to watch the total eclipse in August. He and Nancy spent their 62nd anniversary together holding hands and being together.
